STOP THE PRESS!!!

In an obvious attempt to avoid offending Muslims, the Washington Post pulled this weeks comic strip "Opus."

So now the question, do you think they would've done the same if the comic strip was poking fun at Christianity?
Here's a couple of hints that might help you out:

The Importance of Biblical Doctrine

In his new book, "Building A Biblical Worldview Verse by Verse" Brannon Howse, the founder of Christian Worldview Network goes into great detail about the importance of a strong foundation of Biblical doctrine.

In today's world, where acceptance and tolerance are the "values" that are being taught to our children, the significance of having a biblical foundation is now more than ever a necessity. And the roles that parents and church leaders play in the formation of the true value systems of christian children is by far one of the major tasks of modern day church survival.

With children spending five days a week in an education system that is geared towards teaching humanism, how important is it for parents to ensure that their children have a firm understanding of who God is, what our purpose as humans is, and how we can be sure that we will be spending eternity in heaven with Him?

Please spend some time reading the "11 Reasons for Biblical Doctrine" found on Christian Worldview Network and let us know what your thoughts are on this subject.

Gay-ducation

Parents in Maryland’s Montgomery County will have one more thing to worry about when sending their children back to school this fall as teachers of 8th & 10th grade will begin teaching students that homosexuality is a "normal" sexual identity.

According to an article found on the "Christian Post" Montgomery's 8th and 10th graders will be taught in their health education courses that homosexuality is "innate," anal sex is just another sexual option, children who hold traditional religious views about homosexuality are labeled "homophobic," and that transgenderism is just another "sexual orientation," according to Thomas More Law Center.

According to this article the lessons that will be taught are aimed at promoting "respect" and "acceptance" of the various forms of sexual identity, but pro-family groups argue that the lessons will indoctrinate children with a negative influence and that parents should have the right to decide what their children will learn about normal "sexual" behavior.

The article goes on to say that students will be subject to "individual testimonies" from the GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transsexual) community.

One testimony reads as follows:

"I've known for a long time that I am a lesbian. When I was a little girl, my grandfather would read me a bedtime story before I went to sleep. When he read those stories, I knew that when I grew up, I would marry the beautiful princess, not the prince."

The concern that some parents have addressed with the lessons that will be taught is that they will be teaching the children that if they don't accept homosexuality, then there is something seriously wrong with them. It is also a concern that kids will not get an opportunity to object or voice their opinions over the material that is being taught. The lessons are so "tightly scripted" there is really no discussion that is permitted to take place in the classroom.

- Do you think the parents should have a right to be upset?

- Should the schools be teaching our children about these issues?

- What rights should the children have in this situation?

- What effect will this have on what the church is trying to do?

The "Big" Event - Studs and Suds

OK friends the time has finally come. A time where the rubber meets the road. A time where a champion will be born and a king will be crowned. A time where a man will be separated from the boys. A time of HONOR, where COURAGE and COMMITMENT to a team will be placed on the line, and our money will be placed where our mouth is... A time where a car will be washed!

(Wait a minute, what did he say)

That's right a CAR WILL BE WASHED!!!

For those of you who don't already know, Dougie and I (being the good Christian Men that we are) made a friendly wager that has now come down to the last series of the season between these 2 teams. There is a long (long) story behind most of this, but the facts that truly matter at this point are simply this:

If the Minnesota Twins sweep the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in their (3) game series in Anaheim this weekend...

Then Dougie washes my car in cutoff jean shorts and cut-off Belly-Shirt while listening to the following music:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Baby Got Back
2. It's raining men
3. Macho Man
4. Hanging Tough
5. If you want my body
6. I'm too sexy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However (and here's the kicker), if the Angels (who have only lost 17 games at home this season) win (1) game, then Jason will be forced to do all of the above!!!

For anyone who has the opportunity to join us we will be doing this with a live audience and drinks and refreshments will be provided.

For those of you who can't join us live, the festivities will be video taped and put on our website at
www.godtalkradio.com and possibly www.YouTube.com as well.

So tell your friends, tell your family, and most importantly tell your local media outlets!!!

We hope to hear from all of you soon...

The Sovereignty of God

Why do things like the bridge collapse in Minnesota happen? If there is a God, why would he allow such horrific events to take place?

How to Cure 'Mad Christian Disease'

In today's have it your way society, the church is finding it harder and harder to find a way to present the gospel in a "package" that is fitting for the entire congregation.

It's a sad day when the "way" we present the word of God becomes the largest stress on a pastor. Why is it that so many churches are trying to make the gospel comfortable for those who are hearing it? Why is it that we are more concerned with hurting feelings, then we are with saving souls?

This is exactly what Tommy Galloway is talking about in his newly released book Cure for Common Christianity .

This book tackles some of the many things that are plaguing today's Christian church in hopes that as a church we can get back to what the gospel is truly all about.

If you are interested in reading more about this book and it's author, please see the link below.
