Get Real: Talking Seriously About Abortion

Why do we so passivly accept the tragidy of abortion in this country? Abortion is one of the greatest moral issues of our time...and this is not simply a woman's issue. It effects us all.

It's very easy to paint anti-abortion candidates as the bad guys when the only certain reasons for abortion (i.e. rape, incest) are used to make a case against their viewpoints. But in reality, less than 1% of the abortions performed annually are because of rape or incest. My hope is that as a nation we can stop with the rhetoric and start looking at this issue seriously. Human lives are at stake and if roughtly 3,500 humans were killed for any other reason, American's would not remain silent.

Why do we so passivly accept the tragidy of abortion in this country? Abortion is one of the greatest moral issues of our time...and this is not simply a woman's issue. It effects us all. And for those who remain silent because they don't want to 'judge' others -- remember that silence is acceptance. It was acceptance during the years of the holocaust, during the years of slavery and Jim Crow laws in this nation. There is a word that can correctly be used when a person is willing to stick up for those who can't stick up for themselves. The word isn't judgmentalintolerant or even hateful, it's honorable.

Stand and Deliver - Parents Beware!!!

In another attempt to raise your children (because obviously parents are failing at the job) the United Nations and Planned Parenthood International have developed a new program titled, Stand and Deliver. This is a sex education program aimed at teaching children (as young as 5) about the joys and pleasures of sex.

Does anyone else find this disturbing? I know...its FOX NEWS (the non-news network) but skewed reporting aside...the facts of “STAND AND DELIVER” remain. I will never allow my children to be taught ANYTHING by these ‘progressives’.

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4

Blaise Pascal, a 17th Century philosopher, made this claim:

"All men seek happiness. This is without exception. Whatever different means they employ, they all tend to this end. The cause of some going to war, and of others avoiding
it, is the same desire in both, attended with different views. The will never takes the least step but to this object. This is the motive of every action of every man, even of those who
hang themselves."

Despite what many in the church may be lead to believe, it is not a sin for Christians to seek their happiness. In fact people were created, by God, to find true happiness. This way of thinking runs in opposition to what many Christians consider righteous and upright behavior; but the truth is, Christians should never feel ashamed for seeking joy. In fact, as Palm 37:4 tells us, we are commanded to “delight ourselves in the Lord.” This is not an appeal or even a request…it is a command. And to not pursue our joy would be a sin.

But there is an important caveat we all must keep in mind as we seek our joy:

Sin is not the pursuit of joy and happiness. Sin is the rejecting God's offer of perfect, complete and absolute joy. In other words, when God offers us joy -- like a wonderful filet mignon dinner -- and we push it away in exchange for a plate of rancid beef, we are telling the creator of all things [including joy] that his perfect joy is not sufficient to satisfy us, or worse yet it is not what we desire. This is sin.

God is our treasure. God is the source, provider and sustainer of the joy we were created to enjoy. This joy can only be found in Him. There are no substitutes to the joy we find in God and a pursuit of any other joy is not only accepting less than we were created for but it is also a sin.

So here’s the challenge: If God is our treasure and the joy we were created to obtain; why is so much of our life wasted, seeking treasure that will never satisfy our souls? Take just a moment to pause on the weight and reality of that question. Is God the treasure you are seeking? If not, he should be. If so, then how much time are you spending everyday seeking to be filled in a more complete way by the treasure that is your God?

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all [other] things will be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33

Peeling The Onion:

Well folks, I’m not really sure what to say here. I suppose I could simply post the (2) articles that I found from The Onion and let them speak for themselves.

I guess all I would add is that increasingly it has become more and more “appropriate” to mock Christians, their God and their Savior without any attention being paid to the hypocrisy in the worlds cry for tolerance towards all. I guess when the world cries for tolerance, coexistence and unity they really only want to include sinful activities and religions on the list.

I'm not at all surprised, but it truly is a shame…

The Biblical Salvation Experience:

Having doubts about your Salvation:

Has God opened your eyes like he did for Lydia (Acts 16:14) and drawn you to his Son (John 6:44) and taken out your heart of stone and put in a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26) and granted you repentance (2 Tim. 2:25) and faith (Phil. 1:29) and saved you fully by grace apart from any works (Eph. 2:8).

These and many more are reasons to have faith in the Saving work of God in your Salvation experience.
